What is Negative Energy?

What is Negative energy?
My understanding of negative energy is that it is essentially fear! Fear that comes from ourselves, other people or things seen and unseen in our environment that have consciousness.
Negative energy can be in the form of non-beneficial thoughts, emotions or beliefs about ourselves, other people or situations. It is normal to experience a range of emotions and we all have our own beliefs and thought processes. Most of these lower emotions are however fear based.
The problem can start when we do not release or process them properly and start to identify with them.
They become stuck and can cause us to relive that energy signature, emotion, thought pattern or limiting belief when it is triggered by some kind of situation or event.
We may feel or sense this energy emanating from others and perhaps ourselves from time to time if we are aware. If we are really self aware we would also understand that it is also just our perception and an indication of our own beliefs or programming, Something we can use to understand ourselves and others better.
So releasing your own not so beneficial energies or beliefs about ourselves and others will be of great benefit. This can be done in many different ways and I will give you one simple meditation technique.
It would be highly beneficial to sit quietly and become aware of what your own energies feel like and generally what your inner state is. This will, over time, help you develop your own energy awareness and at some point will be able to simply observe these thoughts, sensations and emotions and allow them to clear.
Mindfulness Meditation
Find a quiet place where you won't be disturbed.
Sit with your back straight, feet on the floor.
Take a few deep breaths in through the nose and relax
bring your awareness to a belief, situation or event that happened or is coming up.
Drop your awareness into the body, usually around the stomach area. Allow whatever emotion, thought or sensation to come up.
observe this without judgement and continue to breath.
Sit with it and breath until it passes.
If your mind wanders, simply bring it back.
If practiced enough, you will be able to do this anytime, anywhere. You will become less reactive and judgemental towards yourself and others and when you are triggered you will be able to observe it and allow it to release. You will then be able to see the energy or emotion for what it is!
